I’m Ricky Soto, a Brooklyn-based designer with ten years of experience in brand identity, digital design, and creative strategy. I grew up moving around the country. I was born in California, then lived in Arkansas and Florida before my family settled in New Jersey. After earning my BA in Communication Studies from Virginia Tech, I launched my design career in New York. I spent the past few years in Washington, DC, and now I’m back in the city.
I’ve recently formed my own design studio as an LLC and begun taking on clients, while also exploring new skills like screen printing and 3D printing. I’m excited to put down deeper roots in Brooklyn and continue collaborating with clients to create thoughtful, lasting work.
My design style is influenced by bold thinkers: Shepard Fairey’s political edge, KAWS’ playful use of pop culture characters, Paul Rand’s minimalism, Paula Scher’s expressive typography, Takashi Murakami’s pop art surrealism, Saul Bass’ cinematic symbolism, Aaron Draplin’s rugged Americana, and Allan Peters’ clean brand marks. Their approaches continue to shape how I think about visual identity.
Outside of design, I’m a huge fan of music, live shows, running, reading, and cooking. I stay grounded through journaling, meditation, and therapy. I’m a huge Yankees and Knicks fan, and root for the Jets and Giants.
